Walk 4 Water

to help restore children & families
with the gift of safe drinking water

What is a Walk 4 Water?

A Walk 4 Water is a super-fun one-day fundraising event centered around a 3 – 4 mile course which symbolizes the average distance traveled by young children and women in search of water. Walk 4 Water events are held throughout the year and across the nation. Most Walks combine a hybrid of an in-person event along with a virtual component that allows others to join if they are not located in the host city.

Why do we Walk 4 Water?

Young girls whose responsibility it is to collect the family water spend their entire day walking for water—mostly dirty water that causes severe illness and too often death. Many of them are unable to go to school because their days are spent trekking for water. They are sacrificing their futures to survive the present. When their job is finally done fetching water, they are too exhausted to put energy into anything else. This creates a vicious cycle that greatly inhibits children’s educational enrichment, which in turn perpetuates the cycle of poverty. When everything stays the same, nothing can change. Water is the first crucial step in relieving this generational curse of poverty. We all have a role in doing our part to help alleviate the global cycle of poverty.

Will my Walk 4 Water event be connected to the village that it is helping?

Yes! We are passionate to be able to share with you the community information and photos of the villagers living in dire need of safe water. This will be the exact village you will be supporting with a well from your Walk. You’ll learn about the village, its people, and interesting facts about their everyday struggles. We’ll share with you photos of their original water source where they trek for their daily source of water. It’s very humbling to learn about the people you get an opportunity to help.

How does a Walk 4 Water Event help?

Funds raised at Walk 4 Water events are used to bring clean water to these wonderful people that are in dire need of clean, safe water. Oftentimes, Walk 4 Water events allow us to drill multiple wells for several thirsty communities.

When a village has access to safe water, restoration can truly start from the ground up. Laying the foundation of health and dignity while opening the door to education, safe and clean water becomes the catalyst that can transform an entire community.
